7.1.5 Gen. 32 -33: The Reconciliation with Esau
Jacob seen from his sympathetic side: a sensitive story of the ending of a brotherly quarrel. Jacob, as the main culprit, makes a considerable advance payment and submits to his brother, who generously accepts the offer of reconciliation. According to Plaut and others, the numbers of the huge reconciliation gift (32:15ff) are probably to be understood symbolically.
