6.1.9 Gen. 19: Sodom and Gomorrah

Less wonderful sounds in our ears are reported parallel to Abraham  now from Lot. The fall of Sodom and Gomorrah with the rescue of Lot  and his family is framed by two stories that again outrage our moral  sensibilities. Lot’s willingness to give up his daughters to the mob  instead of the two men may stand for the high value of his hospitality,  but still cannot be judged as ethically good in our opinion.

Likewise, the incest of Lot’s daughters is ethically undiscussable. It is  above all surprising that it is reported within the stories of the fathers  without any evaluation.
