6.1.5 Gen. 15: The Covenant
A renewed promise of descendants with the significant phrase: “Abram believed the Lord, and he counted this as righteousness” (15:6). The NT takes Abraham as the typos of the believer (Rom. 4, 2 and Jam. 2, 23). In the Reformation this sentence became decisive for Martin Luther. Of course, a sacrifice belongs to the conclusion of the covenant and this is finally described in detail in Gen. 15.
